San Francisco Diary: Submerged

On the third day we stood in line for half an hour, waiting for the Bay aquarium to open. Once it opened we were allowed to explore an underwater wonderland filled with many surprises. We saw sharks {little ones}, a myriad of different fish, sea turtles, seals, small penguins, eels, jellyfish, sea gulls, and all kinds of microscopic plankton that could only be observed with the aid of a microscope.
There were various exhibits on Sharks, Hawaii and all kinds of underwater subjects along with stores selling oceanography merchandise, toys, books, videos, and souvenirs. A cafeteria served visitors who wanted to stay all day exploring the aquarium. The Aquarium has a kid zone that lets young people learn about the ocean while playing games, and being entertained. Outside was an exterior section that overlooked the sea.

The city of Monterrey prompted yet another adventure in the form of the stores and Restaurants. It was a cool morning as we walked along Cannery Row, the location made famous by John Steinbecks 1945 novel, visiting the stores that sold clothes, pirate skulls, pictures, post cards, wind chimes, spices, and wine. The Monterrey Canning Company, and the port could be easily seen in the skyline. We stopped at the Bubbu Gump's restaurant (an establishment based on the Forrest Gump movie and serves seafood) and then we walked along the shops adjacent to the restaurant.
