In a few short days, Californians will decide the fate of Proposition 8, the state initiative that would ban gay marriages in California. This writer speaks out about the accusation that many Christians are simply "Haters."

I hate gay-marriage as much as liberals hate the war in Iraq, but I love gays as much as liberals love our troops. You see I hate homosexuality, but I love homosexuals. Liberals are against the war in Iraq and I'm against gay-marriage. But I can assure you liberals love our troops who participate in the war and I can assure you I love gays who participate in homosexuality. If you say I hate the war but I still vote in support of our troops, I say I hate gay-marriage and I support gays overcoming homosexual desires.
You see homosexuality is a sin just like lying is a sin, they both lead us farther from God and his desire for us to live a truly fulfilling life. I strongly believe that. You may not. But for me to support a liar in lying, would be for me to support a person in following a destructive path because if a liar continues in his sin he will not be acceptable to God. If I truly love a person I would not support their journey to destruction. I would support them in coming to God. If I firmly believe in my beliefs which I do, then it would be in pure love that I am against homosexuality and gay-marriage. If you know homosexuality is unnatural and also a sin against God and a sin against the person him/herself yet support it, how can you say you love him/her? I love gays because I know what is biblically correct, and I care so much about them I tell them the truth only in love. Because I do not want them to be unacceptable to God. I want them to leave their ways behind and walk a new way, like when the liar confesses the truth, apologizes and stops lying. How pure and lovely is the sound of that! If you've read all this I hope you now understand my beliefs and why I will vote Yes on Prop 8.
