Getting the most out of RIOT Blog

By Tim Cooper

Hey everyone, this is a "Tech-y" article, BUT, I know a lot of you use facebook, myspace, and other social networking sites. I have decided to write an article on how to subscribe to the RiotYouthNet blog, from these websites.

A lot of social websites will allow you to put your blog, onto your profile page. For those of you who do not have a blog, the riotyouthnet blog is perfect for you!

Here is an example:
Suppose you were signed up with http://everyonesapostolic.com

On the left hand panel, there is a link called "Add RSS". If you click on it, you are able to add a "URL" to your website. IF you add riotblog's "SITE FEED", a mini version of the blog will appear on your site. People who visit your site will be able to see the article headlines and click on them to read the article! Pretty cool huh?

Here is the site feed for RIOT Blog.

http://riotyouthnet.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

If you go there, you will only see a bunch of "CODE", so its no use going there. You will want to paste this link into your site feed/rss/etc areas of your website.

Facebook has an application called Blog RSS Feed reader. Add it, and you will be able to setup the RIOT Blog on your site!

Definitions! (For the technically challenged)

URL: "Uniform Resource Locator" - its the link to your website, blog, profile, etc. it usually begins with http: ( like http://www.riotyouth.net)
RSS: "Rich Site Summary" - this bit of code will summarize all of the articles on your blog.
CODE: Jibber Jabber. Code is only useful for programmers but some of you also customize your profiles by using HTML/CSS which is also "CODE."
SITE FEED: Every time you add content to your website, if it includes RSS, your site feed will change. Any websites or applications that are subscribed to your site will show that there is new content available.
